Madden 13 looks rather good

A final way to play (which is something unique for Wii U users) is the ability to not only call plays from, but also just simply play using the Wii U  Gamepad.  The game -- complete with (seemingly) full-quality visuals and audio -- is 100% playable on the gamepad.  This is a great feature and it's great to see the Wii U gamepad being used in such a way for this title and others.

Madden 13 looks rather good, yet its visual quality isn't quite up to snuff compared to how the game plays.  Player models are great and they look quite similar to their real-life counterparts, but not everything is perfect.  First of all, the game's canned animations don't always mesh well with one another.  There will be multiple times during games that the ball, for example, will be rotating in one direction only to magically change direction and flip around on its Y-axis to fall neatly into a receiver's hands.  Mis-matched animations aren't the only problem with Madden 13's visuals, however.

He was full grown by the time he watched Tennessee football in Neyland Stadium

He grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan, the son of a small-town police chief.

He didn't venture far away to play college football at Ferris State. Then he decided to pursue a career in coaching.

So, naturally, his dream job was ...

"Tennessee's been my dream job for a while,'' Butch Jones said Friday, sporting his orange tie and Power T lapel pin. "I grew up watching Tennessee football.''

He was full grown by the time he watched Tennessee football in Neyland Stadium. The Vols handled his Cincinnati team 45-23 in 2011, but Jones left thinking it might be a heckuva place to work.

Gerry Goldstein, a criminal defense attorney and friend of Armstrong

The silent auction included two Trek bicycles valued up to $12,000 — Trek was one of the companies that dropped Armstrong as a sponsor on Wednesday — and seven autographed yellow jerseys Armstrong wore on the podium during his Tour de France victories.

Gerry Goldstein, a criminal defense attorney and friend of Armstrong for several years, criticized USADA's investigation and sanctions of Armstrong.

Drug testers never caught Armstrong when he was competing, Goldstein said.

"I'm a big fan of what he has done. Overcoming cancer and doing what he did, who gives a (expletive) about anything else? That's so much more important as a role model and a human being," Goldstein said. "Quit whining about it."

Cardinals reinforced a common belief among players

Every ballplayer remembers the St. Louis Cardinals' magical run last year. The Cardinals weren't baseball's best regular season team—they barely made the playoffs—but they got hot in September, and that momentum carried them to a World Serieschampionship.

In so doing, the Cardinals reinforced a common belief among players: In the wild-card era, the team that gets hot in September usually rolls through October. The numbers bear that out. Of the 17 World Series winners since the wild-card era began in 1995, 10 were "hot" in September—that is, they had a higher September winning percentage than they did for the season overall.

In the last 10 years, that connection has grown even more dramatic. Eight of the last 10 World Series champs have been at their best in the season's final month. Teams strive to go into the postseason hot, as the Yankees have through their torrid September and early October.

Uggla has seven homers in 72 games this season at Turner Field

And even though Miami's current stadium was never his home – he played up the road at Sun Life Stadium when he was a Marlin – Ugglaclearly still has good feelings when he returns to South Florida.

Uggla has seven homers in 72 games this season at Turner Field. He's homered three times in only six games at Marlins Park.

"The fans here, I had a great relationship with them," Uggla said. "I felt like they liked the way I played, enjoyed and appreciated the way I played down here. It's always fun to come back and play in front of them."

Tim Hudson (15-6) allowed a season-high 10 hits in five innings, still beating the Marlins for the fifth straight time.

The 'G' lens with SSM drive is VERY fast, And silent. I've only had the 'G' for a few days, but I used it at a water polo tourney and every shot was a keeper. Super sharp, well saturated colors, and everything else you could ask for from a 'G' series lens. A real winner with the A700 body.

Jesse Chavez (1-1), promoted from Triple-A on Friday

"I guess you can't walk every game off," said A's third baseman Brandon Inge, who had a 13-game hitting streak end.

Jesse Chavez (1-1), promoted from Triple-A on Friday, got the win and Darren Oliver recorded his second save.

The A's had won three in a row. They loaded the bases in the 10th, but Josh Reddick was called out on strikes.

Oakland went into extra innings for the sixth time in its last 24 games, a span that includes a pair of 15-inning wins.

"You're not going to win all those games, yet you expect to," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "We didn't come through this time."

The judge added that Armstrong could refile his case

"This court is not inclined to indulge Armstrong's desire for publicity, self-aggrandizement or vilification of Defendants, by sifting through 80 mostly unnecessary pages in search of the few kernels of factual material relevant to his claims," Sparks said.

The judge added that Armstrong could refile his case within 20 days, but only if he limited his pleadings to information that was legally relevant to his case.

The lawsuit claimed that the antidoping agency violated Armstrong's constitutional rights to due process and asked the court to stop the agency from moving forward with its case against him. The suit said the antidoping agency and Tygart were out to prosecute a "big fish" so the agency could justify its existence.

Joe Nathan worked a perfect ninth for his 17th save

Joe Nathan worked a perfect ninth for his 17th save in 18 chances. Mike Adams escaped trouble in the eighth, when the first two batters reached before deep fly balls by Cabrera and Delmon Young sandwiched an RBI grounder by Fielder.

Darvish joined teammate Matt Harrison and Tampa Bay left-hander David Price as the American League's only 10-game winners. It was Darvish's last start before the All-Star rosters will be announced Sunday.

"A job of a starting pitcher is quality starts and keeping the team in the game," Darvish said. "It's been iffy at times, but I just think overall being able to do that, the result is that I got those wins. Overall as a starting pitcher, I think I am doing my role, that job."

Substitute starter Jake Arrieta struck out nine over seven steady

Substitute starter Jake Arrieta struck out nine over seven steady innings and Wilson Betemit had a season-high three hits and drove in three runs for the Orioles, who have won four straight.

Demoted to the bullpen after an ineffective outing Friday night against Philadelphia, Arrieta turned out to be the logical replacement for Matusz, who fouled a baseball off his nose Tuesday during bunting practice and was at less than 100 percent.

The injury was only a bruise, but manager Buck Showalter thought it was better to pitch Arrieta on four days' rest and use Matusz on Friday.

Kemp finished 3-for-3 with a walk

Matt Kemp launched his MLB-best eighth homer of the season, a two-run first-inning blast, as the Los Angeles Dodgers took down the Houston Astros, 3-1, in the opener of a three-game set.

Kemp finished 3-for-3 with a walk, Andre Ethier knocked in the other run and Ted Lilly (2-0) got the win by giving up one run on four hits and six walks in six innings.

"You'd rather not have to leave the bullpen with nine outs left to get. More times than not, though, with these guys, I feel like our pen is going to take care of it," Lilly said.

Javy Guerra notched his seventh save of the season with two strikeouts in a perfect ninth as the Dodgers moved to 11-3 on the season.

The Celtics upped their lead in the Atlantic Division

The Celtics upped their lead in the Atlantic Division to three games over the Sixers, who fell to eighth in the Eastern Conference. Though they have the same 29-27 record as New York, the Knicks hold the tiebreaker as they've beaten the Sixers in two of three games this season.

After Saturday's loss to the Orlando Magic, coach Doug Collins said slow start in the first and third quarters was going to make him take a look at who is starting games and perhaps make some changes.

If only it was that easy. The Sixers lost their fourth consecutive game and have won just four of their last 14. The Atlantic Division title, which seemed such a viable possibility for much of the season, probably was thrown in the Boston Harbor after Sunday's loss.

The outcome was sealed when the Boilermakers’ Ryne Smith

The outcome was sealed when the Boilermakers' Ryne Smith missed a running banked three-pointer at the buzzer that would have tied the game, and the Kansas contingent — on the bench and the majority of fans in CenturyLink Center — felt a mixture of jubilation and relief.
"I feel like the world just dropped off my back," Kansas' Thomas Robinson said. "I mean, we get another week to practice. I've never been so happy to practice again."

Gaborik had the lone shootout goal for the Rangers in four rounds

Gaborik had the lone shootout goal for the Rangers in four rounds.

Biron made 24 saves through overtime in place of No. 1 goalie Henrik Lundqvist. He had allowed four first-period goals to Chicago in his previous appearance on Feb. 16.

"I haven't been starting games as I would like," Biron said. "We're getting ourselves down and we can't always get out of it. We are in a good place where we are in the conference. We have to bring more desperation to our game right now."

The Islanders threatened to run the Rangers out of the building, stretching their lead to 3-1 and nearly scoring again when Michael Grabner came in on a breakaway midway through the second. Biron turned aside that chance and gave his teammates the opportunity to make a comeback.
